Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg day shift position requiring at least two years of recent experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 36-bed Med/Surg unit with orthopedic cases
• Typical patient ratio is 1:6
• Manages post-surgical, orthopedic, and trauma patients including renal failure, TBI, and spinal cord injuries
• Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts (07:00-19:00)
• Floating required to units of equal or lesser acuity
• Uses Prv Epic EMR; prior experience preferred
• Weekend coverage required for half of scheduled shifts
• Primary duties include care for post-surgical and orthopedic patients, including those with complex trauma and medical needs
• No travel pairs or group submissions will be considered
• No more than three days of requested time off will be auto-approved; no time off permitted during the first week of orientation

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications preferred
• Strong skills in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis, port access, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, phlebotomy, PICC management, starting IVs, spinal and ortho trauma, surgical drain management, respiratory management, and tracheostomy care
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Not accepting candidates residing in specified local counties or within 50 miles of the facility
• First time travelers are not accepted
• Former perm staff must have been gone for at least one year before returning as a traveler
