Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg contract requiring a GA or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Medical Surgical unit serving adult and geriatric patients
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 with an average daily census of 29 in a 32-room unit
• Uses Epic EMR (experience required), Pyxis, and SBAR tools
• Day shifts (3x12) from 7:00 to 19:30
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating to other units may be required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Patient population consists of adults to geriatrics with a full range of Med/Surg diagnoses
• Expected to provide care for various patient needs including wound management, respiratory support, and IV administration
• Must wear navy blue scrubs while on duty
• Must be fully compliant prior to start; onboarding delays for incomplete compliance
• Holiday coverage required according to outlined holiday rules—expect to work holidays falling within the assignment as outlined
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off allowed; no RTO in the first week and none during designated Spring Break
• No blocked scheduling permitted
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Travel pairs cannot be scheduled on the same shift in the same unit

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Competency in isolation precautions, wound care and wound vac, nasal and high flow nasal cannula, chest tube management, IV starts, PICC line management, blood product administration, and feeding tube care
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must provide two supervisory references from a manager or higher (not charge nurses)
• Returning travelers must have been away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one full year before returning
