Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring Epic experience and the ability to float within the state.

Responsibilities

• Work in the PACU serving both inpatient and outpatient populations
• Covers Pre-Op and Phase II Recovery with discharge to home
• Patient diagnoses include general surgery, vascular, plastics, orthopedic, ophthalmology, gynecological, dental, thoracic (no open hearts), podiatry, ENT, and robotic procedures
• Approximately 3-4% pediatric cases; travelers only assigned pediatrics with prior peds experience
• Floating required between all facilities within the state
• Day shifts are 4x10 hours from 11:30 to 22:00
• Use of Epic EMR is required
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care and education, including administering medications such as narcotics and reversal agents
• Perform breathing treatments and manage equipment such as CPAP/BiPAP
• Team may include a mix of surgical specialties, with collaboration expected across disciplines
• Scrubs are provided
• Must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler if previously employed perm, and cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
• Minimal to no time off (RTO) is allowed; all requests must be addressed at submission
• All travelers are expected to float, and refusal may result in termination
• References covering at least 1 year of comparable experience within the last 3 years are required
• Only candidates residing outside a 50-mile radius are eligible

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU or comparable specialty experience required
• Previous travel experience is required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience in ambulatory, outpatient, inpatient, phase II recovery, and pre-post settings required
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management required
• Ability to care for patients across a wide range of surgical specialties including pain assessment and management
• Epic EMR experience required
