Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position requiring recent SD or PCU experience and competency with telemetry and EKG interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiac Stepdown (SD/PCU) unit caring for advanced cardiac patients
• Patient ratios typically 1:5-6 for SD/PCU cases
• Patient population includes heart failure, chest pain rule out, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and substance withdrawal
• Must be able to manage IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin
• Uses the Epic EMR system; previous Epic experience required
• Night shift position (4x12 hours, 19:00–07:30)
• Required to work every other weekend and holiday
• First to float as needed to main campus and other nearby campuses within a 15-mile radius
• Duties include caring for cardiac stepdown patients and administering/interpreting cardiac medications
• Must wear navy blue scrubs while on duty
• RTO must be requested at time of application; no additional RTO accepted post-offer
• Average unit census is 31 patients
• May have up to two shift cancellations per 13-week contract due to low census
• Premier Health reserves the right to end contracts with a 2-week notice
• Travelers are not eligible for internal employee incentives

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent SD/PCU experience with patient ratios of 1:5 documented in work history
• BLS and NIH certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Ability to pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to start
• Experience starting IVs required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry/EKG strips
• Fit for N95 or PAPR as needed prior to working in certain units
• Travel experience preferred
• Level 1 or 2 hospital experience preferred
• Locals within a 50-mile radius are not eligible for this RN travel position
