Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN with at least 2 years of cath lab experience and current BLS & ACLS certifications for an acute care assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Cardiac Cath Lab with acute care setting
• Care provided in 2 Cath/IR labs, 1 hybrid room, and 7 holding rooms
• Average case volume is 16 per day, including cardiac (diagnostic, PCI, pacemaker), vascular, IR, mediports, dialysis caths, and AAA stenting
• Procedures involve use of impellas, IABP, shockwave, IVUS, FFR, IFR, swans, and roto equipment
• Patient care includes pre-admission, post-procedural care in holding, procedural nursing, PICC line insertion, IV conscious sedation, and airway management
• Three 12-hour day shifts per week (0530-1800) with varied weekday and rotating weekend on-call duties
• Required participation in the holiday call rotation
• 30-minute call response time supported by a four-person team (2 RNs, 2 cardiovascular techs)
• No floating outside the department
• Charting is done in Cerner EMR; experience preferred
• Current equipment includes GE MacLab; transition to Phillips Xper planned in 2025
• Job duties include pre and post procedural patient care, procedural nursing, airway management, and PICC line insertions
• Charge nurse supports workflow and assignments on each shift
• Team includes a charge RN and 6 Cath Lab techs
• 2-3 department-specific orientation shifts provided with a preceptor
• Hospital-provided royal blue scrubs are required
• Weekend and holiday on-call coverage is required per rotation schedule
• Returning travelers must have a 2-year break from WVU Medicine facilities and may not exceed one year of cumulative travel work within the health system
• First-time travelers are accepted

Requirements

• Active WV RN or Compact RN license required
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a Cath Lab setting required
• Prior exposure to IR and peripheral vascular cases needed
• Experience with impellas, IABP, shockwave, IVUS, FFR, IFR, swans, and roto required
• Must be skilled in IV conscious sedation and airway management
• Ability to read and interpret tele rhythms and respond appropriately is required
• A copy of an unexpired driver’s license must be provided
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to be eligible
