Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 3 Emergency Department position requiring at least one completed travel assignment and strong mental health skills.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Emergency Room of an acute care hospital
- Level 3 trauma center with a diverse patient population including trauma, stroke, DKA, CP, and COPD
- Shift options include evenings, nights, and mid shifts with alternate work week schedules (e.g., 48/24 vs 36/36)
- Required to work every other weekend and must be willing to work any scheduled shift block with advanced notice
- Pyxis medication system and Spacelabs monitors in use with monitor tech coverage 24/7
- EPIC used for EMR documentation
- Separate triage area and separate psych hold rooms within the ED
- Respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow systems available
- Onsite X-Ray and CT available in the ER
- No float, call, or standby requirements
- Responsible for managing ER holds and supporting psychiatric patient care in designated areas
- Collaborate with dedicated charge nurses, house supervisors, ED techs, sitters, and respiratory therapists
- At least 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided before starting a rotation
- Scrub color is flexible; any scrubs are allowed
- You will receive at least one major holiday off per contract (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Independence Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, or Labor Day)
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
- Housing availability in the area may be limited; researching options prior to accepting the assignment is recommended
Requirements
- Active Oregon RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience
- Proof of one previous completed travel assignment
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and either ENPC or PALS
- Strong experience working with mental health, ETOH, and overdose cases
- Comfortable with EPIC documentation
