Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role requiring Oregon licensure and expertise in emergency care.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital Emergency Department (ED)
• Level III trauma unit with a dedicated charge nurse and house supervisor
• Cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses including chest pain, COPD, DKA, trauma, strokes, and mental health crises
• 12-hour night shifts with an alternate work week schedule (48/24 vs 36/36); must be willing to work any scheduled day, mid, or night shift
• Required to work every other weekend
• Unit includes two separate psych hold rooms and a separate triage area
• Uses EPIC for charting and Pyxis for medication management
• All rooms equipped with Spacelabs cardiac monitors and a 24/7 monitor tech
• Respiratory therapy equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow); RT performs ABGs and treatments
• X-ray and CT available in the ED; both nurse and phlebotomist draw blood
• No floating or call requirements
• At least two days of ED-specific orientation provided before start of rotation
• Staffed with ED physicians, mid-level providers, ED techs, and patient sitters
• Scrub color is flexible; any scrubs may be worn, no uniforms required
• Holiday coverage required, with at least one major holiday off per assignment
• Housing in the area may be challenging; candidates are advised to plan accordingly
• Unit has in-house security and overflow psych area separate from the main ED

Requirements

• Active Oregon RN license required
• Minimum 2 years recent ED RN experience
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Prior travel assignment experience required (no first-time travelers)
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred or required
• Must have skills in mental health, ETOH, and overdose patient care
• Must be able to pass a background check with no hits
• Ability to work all shifts as scheduled
