Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position caring for MS and surgical oncology patients, requiring an active ND or compact license and BLS (AHA).

Responsibilities

Work in a 47-bed Medical Surgical unit in an acute care, Level 1 trauma setting
Primary patient populations include general MS and surgical oncology
Night shifts are 12 hours with every other weekend and every other holiday required
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
Required to float to any Med/Surg unit on any campus as needed
Uses Epic for charting, with AccuDose, bladder scanner, Philips monitors, and telemetry equipment
Care for a diverse MS and surgical oncology patient population
Expected to collaborate closely with physicians and inter-professional colleagues
Initial training includes 1 day lead center training and 2 twelve-hour shifts on the unit with a preceptor
Navy blue scrubs are required
Must badge in and out at the facility
Holiday coverage is required according to unit rotation
Reduced local travel rate applies for candidates living 60-80 miles from the facility

Requirements

Active ND or compact RN license is required
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
Experience with Epic EMR required
Experience in a hospital with at least 200 beds and a Level 2 or higher trauma center is required
Experience with surgical oncology patients preferred but not required
Candidates must not reside within a 60 mile radius of the facility
Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have concluded employment at least 6 months prior
