Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab Technologist with 2+ years IR experience, ACLS, BLS, and RCIS certification for a busy Level II acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in an acute care hospital and primarily works in the Cardiac Cath Lab
• The department includes 7 procedure rooms: 4 Cath Lab/EP and 3 IR/Vascular suites
• Handles a variety of cases including LHC, RHC, PCI, structural heart interventions, Watchman, Impella, IABP, IFR, FFR, IVUS, STEMI, Rotablator, and laser procedures
• Average caseload is 20+ cases per day across all rooms
• Team structure consists of RN and Techs in both Cath Lab and EP settings, with a STEMI call team of 1 RN and 3 Techs
• Uses Cerner EMR and Merge; transition to Epic is planned
• Work schedule is typically four 10-hour shifts per week from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM with rotating days off; five 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) may be considered
• Includes weeknight and weekend call rotation, approximately once every three weekdays and once every three weekends, with a 30-minute call response time
• Holiday call may be required
• Possible floating to hybrid vascular cases
• Primary duties include preparing procedure suites, ensuring radiation safety, setting up sterile tables, scrubbing in and assisting physicians, managing supplies, handling sheath removals, and participating in room turnover and restocking
• Orientation involves 2-3 days of training and shadowing, with buddy call and no call during the first week
• Scrubs provided by the facility; personal scrub caps may be worn
• Clock-in/out policy is in effect
• Former staff must have a 6-month gap from previous employment before consideration; facility approval required
• Travelers living within 80 miles are considered local and subject to adjusted pay rates

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of IR experience required
• Current ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and RCIS (CCI) certifications required
• Ability to calibrate and troubleshoot fluoro and hemodynamics monitoring equipment
• Experience in scrubbing, room setup, radiation safety, and assisting with device exchange, guidewire manipulation, catheter placement, as well as balloon and stent deployment
• Comfortable working in a Level II trauma environment
• Must provide 2 professional references: 1 supervisor reference from within the past year and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the specialty within the last 3 years
• Knowledge of Cerner and Merge EMR systems is beneficial; Epic experience is also valuable
• License required if applicable; must be active by start date
