Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position, requiring a GA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent Med/Tele experience.

Responsibilities

Assignment is in a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, and Chest Pain Center designations
Work on Med/Surg Telemetry units with 20-36 beds per unit
Nurse to patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:6
Schedule is 12-hour day shifts from 7A-7P, 36 hours per week
Required to work 3 weekends within a 6 week schedule
Holiday shifts required: Must work either 11/27 or 11/28, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1
Floating required to all Med/Surg and Tele units in the facility
Utilizes EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
No on-call or call back requirements
RN role involves caring for adult Med/Surg Telemetry patients with a variety of diagnoses
Support staff includes CNA, unit secretary, charge nurse, resource nurse, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist
Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation and educational modules, plus 2 days of departmental training
Scrub color for RNs is navy blue
First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

Active GA or compact state RN license required
Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
BLS certification required
ACLS certification preferred; EKG competency exam must be passed during onboarding
Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use, and management of insulin and heparin drips
Ability to float between units as assigned
Epic EMR experience preferred
