Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring advanced critical care skills and an active AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 12-bed Cardiovascular ICU within an acute care hospital setting
  • Patient population includes AMI, CAD, PVD, and fresh open heart surgery cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity
  • Responsibilities include titration of multiple drips such as Dex, Propofol, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Levophed, Insulin, and Cardene
  • Required experience with IABP, CRRT, and recent open-heart surgery patients; Impella experience preferred
  • Cerner EMR system is used; prior experience is preferred
  • 12-hour day shifts with two weekend shifts per pay period
  • Must float to ICU, PCU, MS, or Tele as needed across both campuses
  • Call or standby may be required, up to 3 times per 12 weeks
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Provide direct care for critically ill cardiovascular patients, including management of advanced drips and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Work collaboratively with intensivists, charge nurses, and 24/7 respiratory therapy support
  • No nurse aids are present on unit; RN provides all bedside care
  • Holiday shift coverage is required as per hospital expectations
  • Unit/department-specific orientation provided
  • First to float among staff based on department skill needs
  • Testing on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is required during orientation
  • Failure of dysrhythmia or sterile technique testing on the second attempt results in ineligibility for six months
  • Travel duos must have separate vehicles and are not guaranteed the same schedule

Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU or cardiovascular critical care experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam (80% or higher within two attempts) prior to contract signing
  • Experience with ventilators, BiPap, Cpap, Vapotherm, and HiFlow required
  • RNs are required to read their own strips
  • Must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
  • Driver’s license required for consideration
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Two professional references, including one recent supervisor reference, required
