Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring a GA or compact RN license and strong clinical skills.

Responsibilities

Work in a 16-bed Admission Discharge Transition Unit within a hospital setting
Patient population includes chest pain, cardiac cases, general med/surg, post-operative, and patients awaiting inpatient admission
RN-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-6
Shift is 12-hour nights from 7 PM to 7 AM
Weekend rotation requires 6 shifts in a 6-week schedule
Holiday coverage includes one major holiday shift per cycle
Floating to all adult med/surg and telemetry units is required
Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication systems, and Phillips monitors
No on-call requirements
Responsibilities include managing acute care patients, coordinating transitions between ER and inpatient units, and patient education on discharge
Work alongside support staff including CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, and a dedicated transport team
Orientation includes 1 day of facility induction and 2 days departmental training
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Must wear navy scrubs as per unit policy
High patient turnover and fast-paced environment
Free parking is available on campus

Requirements

Active GA or compact RN license
Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
Associate's degree in Nursing or higher
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Must complete a Basic Cardiac Rhythm test during onboarding
Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring, care for drips titrated to heart rate, and insulin/heparin drips
Strong clinical assessment, time management, and interdisciplinary care coordination skills
Epic EMR experience preferred
