Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced MS/Tele RN with a NY license and BLS certification for a hospital position with diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital MS/Tele unit caring for cardiac and stroke patients
• Day shift is 3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00
• Day/evening nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 5:1, stretching to 6-7:1; night ratios are 6-7:1, stretching up to 10:1 in staff shortages
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Must float within scope to MS, ICU, and ED as needed
• Epic EMR used; experience with Epic preferred
• Patient assistive equipment includes hoyer lifts
• PCTs provide vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living support
• In-house phlebotomy team handles all peripheral lab draws, while nurses manage PICC and central lines
• Isolation precautions are required as needed
• Any combination of navy and white scrubs is acceptable
• First-time travelers are welcome
• No holiday time off is permitted; a maximum of 7 days of RTO allowed during the assignment
• Holiday coverage is required
• Float assignments may include similar units as needed

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of submission
• Current BLS certification required
• At least 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience in managing and interpreting dysrhythmias and utilizing Rapid Response Teams
• Proficient in peripheral line care and management
• Must be skilled with nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• No locals accepted; must live more than 75 miles from the facility
• No pending licenses accepted
