Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with a current or pending MI license and a minimum of 1 year recent experience to join a diverse team on a 37-bed medical surgical unit.

Responsibilities

• Position is based on a 37-bed Medical, Surgical, Oncology Unit in an acute care hospital
• Cares for general medical, gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgical patients
• Additional patient populations include ortho/neurovascular, cardiopulmonary, and surgical (GI, urology, hysterectomies, mastectomies)
• Day shift (4x12 hours), 7:00 to 19:30
• Staffing ratio typically 1:5-6 on nights, may flex up to 8 patients with LPN support
• Must be available to work the entire first 8 days of the assignment
• Required to work every other weekend
• Will float to other Med/Surg units approximately once per week as needed
• Works alongside a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
• Provide nursing care for a variety of medical and surgical patients with specialties in GI, urology, and gynecology
• RNs may be required to float and will float first before core staff
• Must be willing to collaborate with a variety of clinical support staff
• No restrictions on local candidates; same rate applies regardless of distance from facility
• Return staff must have a 6-month separation before being considered for rehire
• Orientation modules are completed during onboarding and annually, totaling 8 hours and are self-reported

Requirements

• Active MI RN license or pending license with confirmed ETA
• Current American Heart Association BLS or willingness to obtain prior to start date
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required; 2 years preferred
• References required for consideration
• Proof of seasonal flu vaccination required, or exemption paperwork submitted within 48 hours of signing contract
