Description

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and SD or compact licensure for a surgical services role.

Responsibilities

Work in a surgical services department with 10 operating rooms, 20 pre-op bays, and 14 PACU bays
Care for surgical patients in specialties including urology, neuro, ortho, robotic, general, podiatry, ENT, gynecology, and trauma
Patient ratios: OR 1:1, Pre-Op 1:2, PACU Phase I 1:1 or 1:2 (acuity-based), PACU Phase II 1:2-3
Uses Epic EMR, Omnicell, and Alaris equipment; Epic experience preferred but not required
12-hour variable shifts with weekend rotation and on-call requirements (one overnight per week and every third weekend)
Floating may occur to Endo, PreOp/PACU, or general floor as needed in a supporting capacity
Work within a strong perioperative team including RNs, First Assist, Surg Tech, Anesthesia, and other support roles
One week of orientation is provided on both facility and unit level
Holiday coverage required for 2 of the 4 major holidays
Sleep room is available in the pre-op/PACU area during call shifts
Scrubs are provided
Free parking is available for staff
Very traveler-friendly environment with a history of contract renewals
First-time travelers are not accepted without manager approval

Requirements

Active SD or compact state RN license
Minimum 2 years of OR experience with Level 1 or 2 trauma cases
Completion of an approved nursing education program
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS
Experience with ortho-trauma (ORIF, Ex fix, amputations), neuro (craniotomy, spinal), general, and robotics (Da Vinci XI, SP, DV5)
Surgical experience in a tertiary care center
Must live more than 100 miles from the facility
Candidates who were permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as travelers
