Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring both scrub and circulate skills, SC or compact RN license, and AHA BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Operating Room setting
• Primary responsibilities include both circulating and scrubbing for surgical cases
• Patient population includes a variety of surgical patients
• Shift is 8 hours, mid-shift (11:00–19:30), five days per week for a 12-week assignment
• Includes 12 on-call shifts over 12 weeks, with on-call times possibly overnight or on weekends
• EMR documentation is completed in Cerner
• Requires floating to a nearby sister hospital as needed
• Main duties include conducting patient assessments, planning and prioritizing care, and providing education to patients and families
• Must demonstrate professional nursing competencies and apply critical thinking in high-stress or emergency situations
• Requires effective communication with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Exposure to body fluids, infectious materials, and blood-borne pathogens is possible
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Assignment limited to one calendar year; 30-60 day break required before returning for a new assignment
• Compliance with background check and drug screen procedures is required
• Must be prepared for deadline-driven environment and possible irregular hours

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required
• Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing required
• Ability to both scrub and circulate in the OR required
• Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, lift/move patients, and push/pull up to 50 lbs
• BSN preferred or must be obtained within five years if applicable
