Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN with at least 2 years of ER experience and a WV or compact RN license for a night shift position.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 44-bed Emergency Department with 3 trauma bays, 4 behavioral health rooms, 6 intake rooms, and 3 negative airflow rooms
• Patient caseload averages 135 per day with a wide range of medical, behavioral, and high acuity cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5 depending on acuity
• Fast track and direct bedding models in use with triage room and nurse during triage mode
• Level III trauma and certified cardiac center with in-house EKG and stat lab capabilities
• Uses Epic for EMR; prior Epic experience preferred
• Night shifts from 7p-7a with every other weekend required
• No floating outside the Emergency Department
• Collaborate with ED physicians, PAs, and a 24/7 charge nurse for patient care delivery
• Position requires teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population including high behavioral health volume
• Team includes PCTs, unit secretaries, and patient sitters; PCTs can draw blood and assist with Foley catheters
• Black scrubs are required; jackets must be scrub style only
• Initial department-specific orientation includes 2-3 shifts
• Weekend and holiday rotation required as scheduled
• No call or standby requirement for travelers
• Former staff must have a 2-year break from any WVU Medicine location before reapplying
• Travelers are not eligible if reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Travelers may not work within WVU facilities for more than one year without a two-year break

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (or ENPC), NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
• Ability to interpret ESI triage and work within a fast-paced, high-volume ER
• Must submit an unexpired driver’s license for consideration
