Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in California, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and a current CA RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital within the Labor & Delivery unit
• Unit includes 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor/high-risk rooms, and 3 triage rooms
• Care for high-risk pregnancies with both vaginal deliveries and C-sections performed
• Fetal heart monitoring and high-risk monitoring are core aspects of care
• May be required to float to postpartum unit to provide couplet care for newborn and maternal patients
• Uses Epic EMR for documentation
• Night shift position with 3x12 hour shifts (19:00–7:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Primary responsibilities include care of patients during labor, delivery, and recovery with monitoring of fetal and maternal well-being
• May float between facilities within the state as required
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs; scrubs provided for L&D/OR
• Must declare all requested time off during the application process; changes after offer are generally not accommodated
• Minimal or no requested time off is preferred to expedite placement
• Parking available for a fee with several pass options
• Beachside hospital location with a collaborative team environment

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• Certifications required: AWHONN Advanced or NCC EFM, ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring (AHA certification for ACLS and BLS)
• Experience with Epic EMR documentation required
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Must provide minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a relevant setting
• Former permanent staff must be separated for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Not eligible if residing within 50 miles of the facility
