Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a CT or compact license and advanced cardiac ICU expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) at a short-term acute care hospital
  • Patient ratios are typically 1:2 for both day and night shifts
  • This is a high-acuity cardiac ICU caring for critical cardiac and cardiothoracic patients
  • Proficiency with swan-ganz monitoring is required
  • The hospital is a Level I Trauma Center and uses Epic for charting
  • Night shift schedule consists of four 12-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:00)
  • Every other weekend is required
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
  • Responsibilities include delivering critical care to complex cardiac ICU patients and utilizing advanced hemodynamic monitoring
  • Collaborate as part of a skilled multidisciplinary cardiac ICU team
  • First-time travelers are accepted if they have qualifying cardiothoracic or critical care experience
  • Returned permanent staff must have a minimum 2-year gap before being considered for a travel position
  • Up to 7 days of requested time off will be automatically approved; extended requests require prior approval
  • Scrubs are required (specific color not stated)
  • Must participate in any natural disaster or emergency response activities as assigned by the facility

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license or eligibility to obtain prior to consideration
  • Minimum 3 years of recent cardiac ICU experience required
  • At least 1 year of Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Experience with critical care and cardiothoracic ICU patients is required
  • Proficiency with swan-ganz monitoring is required
  • Experience with Epic EMR is preferred
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations permitted; COVID vaccine and booster required unless exempted for religious/medical reasons
  • No prior disciplinary actions on nursing license
  • Not eligible if living within 75 miles of the facility, except for applicable technologist roles
