Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU/PCU float position requiring comfort in all critical care settings, with Epic and advanced ICU skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in ICU and PCU units within a hospital environment
• Float to all ICU and PCU units based on staffing needs, with possible multiple floats per shift
• Night shift, three 12-hour shifts per week from 6:45pm to 7:15am
• Patient ratios: ICU average 2:1, PCU average 5:1
• Uses Epic EMR; prior experience required
• May be required to work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Duties include providing comprehensive care to critical and progressive care patients across multiple units
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• All requests for time off or special scheduling must be included at the time of consideration
• Local candidates are accepted; radius rule may apply
• Must be prepared to float up to every 4 hours based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if single-state and non-compact
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience at a large Level 1 or Level 2 trauma facility required
• ICU experience required, 2+ years preferred
• Proficient in IV therapy, including arterial line and central/PICC line care
• Skilled in blood product administration, IV sedation, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, ventilators)
• Ability to administer emergency medications and manage continuous infusions
• Competence in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with surgical wound care and wound vacs
• Familiarity with IV insulin protocols
• Epic charting experience required
