Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a compact or TN RN license and advanced life support certifications.

Responsibilities

Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
Night shift position with options for 3x12 hour or 4x12 hour schedules (18:30-07:00)
Floating to other units required as needed
No on-call responsibilities
General orientation starts on Sundays, with initial online coursework provided
Participation in nursing student support and clinical education is expected alongside patient care responsibilities
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates within 100 miles of the hospital are not eligible for this position

Requirements

Active TN or compact RN license required at time of consideration
Minimum 2 years of PCU or relevant nursing experience required
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
Permanent residence must be at least 100 miles from the facility

Surgeons are kind and great to work with. Cases aren’t difficult. Rarely get called in from home.

Cons

Always have to stay late and end up staying late even when not on call. A good chunk of staff doesn’t have much experience
