Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position that requires a MD or compact RN license and advanced cardiac care skills.
Responsibilities
- Position is in an adult/geriatric Cardiovascular ICU within a hospital setting
- Night shifts are 3x12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating within the specialty or to lower acuity units as needed
- No scheduled on-call shifts
- Unit has 15 beds with an average daily census of 10
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1, up to 1:3 with stable, lower acuity patients
- Special procedures performed include bedside central/A-line insertion, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
- Equipment used includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
- Patient diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, MI, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapy workups, and mechanical support device management
- Responsibilities include managing complex cardiac patients, performing specialized ICU procedures, and operating advanced cardiac equipment
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Must be prepared to provide care to critically ill adults and geriatric patients
Requirements
- Active RN license in MD or compact state
- Current BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications required
- CCRN certification is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU experience required
- Will consider first-time travelers with strong CVICU experience
