Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position that requires a MD or compact RN license and advanced cardiac care skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an adult/geriatric Cardiovascular ICU within a hospital setting
• Night shifts are 3x12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating within the specialty or to lower acuity units as needed
• No scheduled on-call shifts
• Unit has 15 beds with an average daily census of 10
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1, up to 1:3 with stable, lower acuity patients
• Special procedures performed include bedside central/A-line insertion, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
• Equipment used includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
• Patient diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, MI, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapy workups, and mechanical support device management
• Responsibilities include managing complex cardiac patients, performing specialized ICU procedures, and operating advanced cardiac equipment
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Must be prepared to provide care to critically ill adults and geriatric patients

Requirements

• Active RN license in MD or compact state
• Current BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications required
• CCRN certification is preferred
• Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU experience required
• Will consider first-time travelers with strong CVICU experience
