Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring cardiac monitoring skills and Epic charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on general medicine and observation patients
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4–5, with a goal ratio of 4:1
• Remote telemetry monitoring with monitors remaining on the unit
• Tele-sitting utilized to provide extra Patient Care Tech support
• Night shift position, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45–07:15), with 4x12 available upon request
• Float assignments required within skillset
• Contracts available for 13–52 weeks by request
• Epic EMR experience required
• Responsibilities include observation, cardiac monitoring, and management of complex medicine patients
• Must work either every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week scheduling block, as determined by unit policy
• One holiday shift is required per 13-week contract
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Locals are accepted per facility radius rules
• RTO (requested time off), block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with application

Requirements

• Active RN license from VA or Compact state; pending single-state non-compact licenses may be considered
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience in Tele, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Experience administering cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone) without titration
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care required
• Competency with chest tubes, trach care, PICC line management, and non-invasive respiratory modalities (CPAP, BiPAP, oxygen administration)
• Two professional references needed for consideration
