Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a PICU RN for a rotating day/night position requiring recent trauma experience and a NH or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Position is in an 18-bed unit with 4 PICU beds, 3 step-down, and 11 pediatric med/surg beds
Care for pediatric ICU, step-down, and pediatric med/surg patients as needed
May be required to float to the ICN if needed
Patient acuity varies from med/surg to critical care (level 3)
Rotating day and night shifts, 36 hours per week
No local candidates allowed; a 75-mile radius rule applies
You may be assigned to care for few or no critical care patients depending on census
RNs are responsible for providing care across all acuity levels within the unit
Applicants must live more than 75 miles from the facility
Assignment may require floating to other pediatric areas as needed

Requirements

Active NH or compact state RN license required and must remain active throughout assignment
Current BLS certification required
Must have recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma experience in the last 2 years
Pediatric critical care and med/surg experience necessary

Pros

1:4 patient ratio, usually staffed well enough. Management are great to work with and supportive.

Cons

First to float like every other facilities but usually works out better! Many long term patients there because care homes are not enough or properly staffed for the degree of illness.
