Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a Level 3 Trauma hospital, requiring a GA or compact RN license and strong med-surg/telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes acute or chronic disease, post-op surgeries, diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
• Patient ratios are typically RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, with 2-3 CNAs per shift
• Central telemetry monitoring is used
• 12-hour night shifts from 7P-7A
• Weekend rotation requires working 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule or every other weekend
• Must work one shift on 12/24 or 12/25 and 12/31 or 1/1
• Floating required to adult Med/Surg/Tele units, including 3 Cobb
• EMR system is Epic; experience preferred
• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, clinical assessment, IV and wound care, discharge planning, and patient education
• Interdisciplinary care coordination is expected
• Support staff includes charge nurse, CNAs, unit secretary, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, intensivist, and central telemetry
• Facility provides 1 day of general orientation and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Navy scrubs are required for RNs
• Free parking is available on site
• Team-oriented and fast-paced unit environment

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Basic cardiac rhythm (BCR) certification required
• ACLS certification preferred but not required
• Experience with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, and cardiac telemetry monitoring
• Proficiency with trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, cardiac monitoring, insulin and heparin drips, and glucommander
• First-time travelers are welcome
