Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position working night shifts in a busy teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 16-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes chest pain, COPD exacerbation, heart failure observation, diabetes, post-op day 1, simple trauma, and patients awaiting inpatient admission
  • RN patient ratio is typically 1:4-6
  • Requires floating to all adult med/surg and telemetry units as needed
  • Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
  • 12-hour night shifts from 7P-7A with weekend rotation (6 shifts in a 6-week schedule)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Holiday shifts required: one shift for each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day/Day After, 12/24 or 12/25, 12/31 or 1/1)
  • Main responsibilities include clinical assessment, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, discharge planning, and patient education
  • Clinical support is provided by CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, PICC team, resource nurse, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, and intensivist
  • Unit is fast-paced with frequent patient turnover and a strong team-oriented culture
  • Scrub requirement is navy for RNs
  • Free parking is available around campus
  • First time travelers are welcome to apply
  • One-day facility orientation and two-day unit orientation provided
  • RTO requests are subject to manager approval

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Georgia or Compact nursing license required
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
  • Associate degree in Nursing or higher required
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) test to be completed during onboarding
  • Experience with EPIC EMR, cardiac monitoring and interpretation, IV insertion and maintenance, and care coordination
