Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Oncology position requiring oncology and chemotherapy skills at an acute care Level I trauma center.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Oncology Unit of an acute care hospital
• Day shifts offered as 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 7:15 AM to 6:45 PM
• Average daily census is 24 patients with 24 beds
• Will work every other weekend
• Floating within scope to other units as needed
• Cerner charting system is used
• No on-call responsibilities
• Scrub color requirement is any solid color
• Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, handling and monitoring oncologic treatments, managing ports and central lines, and responding to abnormal patient conditions
• Facility is a Magnet hospital and Level I trauma center
• First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
• Time off requests ideally should not exceed 5 days
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Parking permit is required but free of cost and processed during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required or must be in application process
• Minimum 1 year of recent oncology RN experience required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Required oncology skills include administration of chemotherapy (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, management and disposal of cytotoxic spills, port and central line care, blood product administration, and recognition of abnormal lab values
• Experience with IV therapy, infusion, accessing ports, central line care, and starting IVs
