Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit position with strong cardiac and trauma experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
• Care for post cardiac and post vascular surgery patients
• Staffing ratios range from 1:3-5 depending on acuity
• Night shift schedule (three 12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30), with every other weekend required and possible consecutive weekends based on need
• Floating may be required to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU at two hospital locations
• EMR used is Cerner and experience is required
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned as needed after training
• Duties include managing complex post-op cardiac and vascular patients and titrating cardiac drips
• All travelers must float within the hospital and to affiliated nearby hospitals as needed
• Must be able to work at least two out of three major holidays during the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved
• Former perm or PRN staff must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before consideration
• Charge coverage or additional unit responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license in hand by start date
• Current ACLS and BCLS certifications accepted by AHA or RQI
• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of experience in a similar setting
• Previous Level I or II trauma experience required
• Telemetry experience and competency with IV start and cardiac drip titration required
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• COVID vaccination required unless an approved medical or religious exemption is provided
• Local candidates are not accepted for PCU positions
