Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a night/variable shift Emergency Department position in Alaska requiring an active AK RN license and current BLS and PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department within a hospital setting
• Provide care to patients of all ages with emergent conditions
• Shift is nights or variable as assigned
• Expected to float to other units as needed
• Rotating on-call requirements occur every 3 weeks, with rapid onsite response required when on-call
• Coordinate and perform diverse nursing care procedures independently based on provider orders and hospital standards
• Demonstrate clinical decision-making and calmly respond to emergency situations
• Provide patient and family education, psychosocial support, and work collaboratively within the healthcare team
• Responsible for accurate documentation, medication administration, and individualized care planning and evaluation
• Must comply with shift scheduling, float policies, and participate in departmental meetings and ongoing training
• Scrub or dress code compliance is required
• All required documentation and immunization records must be submitted prior to employment consideration
• Holiday coverage may be required as per hospital scheduling protocols

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Alaska RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required upon hire
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
• Minimum of one year clinical nursing experience preferred
• Prior ED experience preferred
• Must obtain flu vaccination prior to start
• Ability to safely operate and monitor medical equipment and assist with emergency procedures such as intubations, arterial lines, and ventilators
