Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Orthopedic RN with recent trauma experience and current NH or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 36-bed adult surgical unit specialized in trauma and acute care surgeries
• Patient population includes trauma cases such as spinal cord and brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, and acute surgical patients
• Unit features 2 negative pressure rooms for COVID patients
• RN patient ratios are 1:4 for days and 1:5 for nights
• Common procedures include care of chest tubes, lines/tubes/drains, trachs/laryngectomies, complex wounds, and telemetry
• Drugs managed include Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone
• Day and night shifts available
• This is a fast-paced, high acuity environment focused on patient rehabilitation and support
• No local candidates accepted; applicants must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if all requirements are met
• Proper documentation and certifications must remain active throughout the assignment

Requirements

• Active NH RN license or compact RN license with proof of state residency
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent equivalent Med/Surg orthopedic nursing experience
• Recent Level I or comparable Level II trauma experience within the last 2 years required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience managing chest tubes, central lines, trachs/laryngectomies, complex wounds, and telemetry required
