Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Position is based in an acute hospital setting on a 49-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
  • Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory cases, GI patients, diabetics, post-cath, telemetry, and total joint replacements
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5
  • Nurses are required to interpret and sign telemetry strips at least once per shift
  • RN will work 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with self-scheduling, finalized by management
  • Weekend coverage required for 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage required on Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving with specific day/evening expectations
  • Floating required to other campuses and to PCU if qualified
  • Cerner is used for charting; previous experience is recommended
  • No call or standby requirement
  • RNs are supported by charge nurses, house supervisors, and nurse aides with a 1:10-15 ratio
  • Use of BiPap, CPAP, and breathing treatments is expected
  • Scrub color is Navy Blue
  • One shift of unit orientation provided
  • Must not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Pass/fail testing on sterile technique may be conducted on the first day of orientation
  • First time travelers will be considered

Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in Med/Surg Telemetry settings
  • Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (must be active, not pending)
  • Ability to read basic telemetry strips and experience with CVA, TIA, and total joint replacement patients
  • Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% within two attempts prior to signing contract
  • Experience with Cerner charting system is recommended due to limited orientation
  • Must provide a valid driver's license for consideration
  • Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the last three years
