Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a MD or compact RN license and strong CVICU expertise.
Responsibilities
- Assignment in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
- Adult and geriatric patient population with advanced cardiovascular conditions
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week from 19:00 to 07:30
- Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required as scheduled
- Float within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- May require on-call responsibilities
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower acuity patients
- Unit consists of 15 rooms or beds with an average daily census of 10
- Uses specialized equipment including Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
- Performs procedures such as bedside central/A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and continuous renal replacement therapy
- Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, and patients undergoing advanced therapy workups like LVAD and heart transplants
- Responsible for caring for patients with mechanical support devices and advanced cardiovascular interventions
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Holiday coverage is expected as assigned
- Team may include other advanced clinicians and support staff
Requirements
- Current and active MD or compact RN license
- BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications required
- CCRN certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years CVICU nursing experience required
- Willing to consider first-time travelers with strong CVICU background
