Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Tele position requiring strong neuro and cardiac skills and an active AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 24-bed Med Surg/Tele unit
• All beds have telemetry capability
• Patient population is primarily adults; pediatric patients are assigned only to permanent staff
• Day shift, 12-hour schedules
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5 on days and 1:6 at night, based on acuity
• Floating to all Med Surg units and ICU (for Med Surg overflow) is required
• Support staff includes tele techs, charge nurse, HUCs, and PCTs
• Hospitalist, respiratory therapist, and pharmacy services available 24/7
• Charting is done using Sunrise Allscripts EMR
• Nurse managers are available for rounding but do not provide patient care
• No IV team support on the unit
• Assigned scrubs must not be all black; any other color is permitted
• Scrubs are not provided
• Trauma Level 3 hospital environment

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Tele experience
• Certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Strong neuro and cardiac skills required
• PALS certification is preferred
