Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position requiring WV or compact licensure and strong med/surg background.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care setting across all inpatient units including ICU, step-down, and medical/surgical units based on competency
• Patient population includes cardiac, orthopedic, neurological, surgical, and medical cases with varying acuity
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit: Med/Surg 1:6, Step-down 1:4-5, ICU 1:2-3
• Floating is required to all units according to competency
• Uses Epic for charting and EMR documentation
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required
• No call requirements, but standby may be required if census is low
• CPAP and BiPAP present on all units, ventilators in ICU, and chronic trach vents may be in step-down units
• Telemetry monitoring on all applicable units with support from monitor techs
• Must perform duties related to direct patient care for a variety of diagnoses and acuity levels
• Will titrate a variety of drips including heparin, Cardizem, nitro, insulin, and others in step-down units
• Required to wear royal blue scrubs per dress code
• Department-specific orientation consists of 3-4 shifts
• Every other weekend shift is mandatory, with holiday coverage as needed
• Support from a 24/7 house supervisor and a robust float pool for both RNs and PCTs
• No local travelers accepted; candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Former employees of any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before being considered again, and travel contracts cannot exceed one cumulative year before a mandated 2-year break
• RNs may be subject to pass/fail EKG testing if assigned to step-down, ICU, or PCU units

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required prior to consideration
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Med/Surg nursing required
• Step-down experience preferred
• Competency in titrating drips required for step-down areas
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
