Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown position on the night shift, requiring 2 years of cardiac/vascular experience and a valid WV or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the 32-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit, including 22 stepdown and 12 floor beds
• Patient population includes cardiac and vascular post-surgery, cardiac procedure, and heart failure cases
• Average ratios: 1 RN to 3 patients in stepdown and 1 RN to 6 patients on the floor
• Care involves post-op cardiac cases such as CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, TAVR, heart transplants, STEMI/NSTEMI, heart failure, and various vascular procedures
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, and dobutamine
• Utilizes EPIC EMR system
• Three 12-hour night shifts per week with every other weekend required
• Floating to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute may be required
• No on-call requirements but overtime is available
• RNs provide care for patients recovering from complex cardiac and vascular procedures
• Unit supported by 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisors, with clinical associate support staff
• Monitor Techs (CMTs) are present on the unit and interpret all telemetry strips
• Solid royal blue and white scrubs are required
• 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation are provided
• Must pass EKG testing if required for the unit
• Holiday coverage is required
• No local travelers permitted; must live at least 50 miles away from the facility

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years recent cardiac or vascular nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with titrating cardiac drips
• Experience with respiratory devices including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen is preferred
• Driver’s license must show residency at least 50 miles from the facility
• Must provide copies of unexpired driver’s license and required certifications for consideration
• Must not have been a permanent staff member or a traveler at any WVU facility within the past 2 years
