American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma ICU night shift position requiring at least 3 years of recent ICU experience and Arizona or compact state licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Level 1 Trauma ICU within an acute care setting
  • Units include Surgical ICU, Medical Cardiac ICU, and 12-bed overflow ICU, totaling 32-36 beds per unit

  • Patient population includes trauma, neuro, post-surgical, CVA, sepsis, ARDS, cardiovascular, and COVID cases; ages 15+

  • Uses Cerner EMR; previous experience preferred but not required
  • Night shifts, 12 hours in length; self-scheduling with periodic management adjustment for unit needs

  • Floating required, including to telemetry units (1:3 or 1:4 ratio) and between ICUs
  • No additional call or standby shifts required
  • RNs titrate a wide variety of drips including propofol, fentanyl, dilaudid, levophed, vasopressin, insulin, and more
  • Units have charge nurses who do not typically take patients
  • No nurse aids; sitters and health unit secretaries assist as needed
  • Holiday coverage as scheduled, may have one holiday off per assignment
  • Unit-specific orientation is 1-2 days and includes skill validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Expect to float between three ICU areas and to telemetry as needed
  • First-time travelers with the required ICU experience are welcome to apply
  • Failure of required exams on the second attempt may disqualify candidate for 6 months
  • Candidates with prior experience in a similarly sized ICU strongly preferred
