Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring strong critical care skills, TN or compact RN license, and advanced cardiac device experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 16-bed Cardiovascular ICU within a hospital setting
• Patient ratios are 1:2, with 1:1 assignments for patients with specific devices
• Manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients including care for those with ECMO, Centrimags, and LVADs
• Utilizes equipment such as Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps
• Documentation is completed in Meditech
• Day shift 7:00AM–7:00PM with scheduling that includes 2 weekends per month and coverage of select summer and winter holidays
• Floating required, primarily to other ICUs but may include other hospital units
• Support provided by a free-floating charge nurse, unit secretary, administrative tech (weekday coverage), and nurse externs
• Role includes frequent procedures such as central line insertion, swan insertion, and intubations as required
• Adhere to department uniform requirements: black, red, or galaxy blue scrubs with optional scrub jackets/vests
• Holiday coverage required for specified summer and winter holidays
• Team support is available from charge nurses, techs, and nurse externs
• Floating assignments support ICU coverage needs across other units

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience and strong general critical care background
• Current AHA or ARC certifications in ACLS and BLS required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Experience with pulmonary artery catheters and advanced hemodynamic monitoring required
• Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT
• Experience in care of ECMO, Centrimags, and LVAD patients strongly preferred
• Must provide US Social Security Number and date of birth for consideration
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days in the past 12 months
