Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring strong CVICU skills and a TN or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Cardiovascular ICU with 16 beds
• Patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 for select device patients
• Specialized in immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including ECMO, Centrimags, and LVADs
• Uses Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps
• Documentation is completed using Meditech
• Night shift from 7:00PM to 7:00AM with 2 weekends per month required
• Holiday coverage required for one summer and two winter holidays
• Floating to other ICUs and potentially other hospital floors as needed
• Free floating charge nurse available for support, with unit secretary and tech during weekday hours
• Provide advanced care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients and manage complex cardiac devices
• Procedures performed include central line insertion, swan insertion, and intubations
• Required to wear scrubs in black, red, or galaxy blue with jackets or vests only
• Team consists of RNs, admin care techs, unit secretaries, and student nurse externs
• Holiday coverage required as part of the regular schedule
• First time travelers are accepted for this position

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years recent critical care experience, including CVICU
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Experience with PA catheter and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Ability to provide professional references as required
• No work history gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates)
