Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring recent travel experience and a current compact or TN RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for medical, surgical, overflow, post-surgical, and observation patients
• Staff-to-patient ratio is typically 1:6 or 1:7
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Weekend and on-call shifts are required as needed
• Transitioning to a team nursing model with LPN support
• Floating may occur to similar units and to campuses within 20 miles, though inter-campus floating is rare
• Cerner EMR used; experience is preferred but not required
• Responsibilities include providing care for a diverse population, including med/surg, post-surgical, and observation patients
• Must be able to adapt to a team nursing approach with LPN collaboration
• Must be willing to work two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) if they fall during assignment; if two holidays, must work at least one
• All requests for time off must be included at the time of application
• Returning employees must be separated for at least one year before eligibility for a traveler position
• Vaccination status documentation required
• Cerner charting system is utilized
• Block scheduling is not offered except for possible weekend blocks

Requirements

• Active RN license from TN or a compact state, no pending licensure accepted
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required; 3 years preferred
• At least 1 completed previous travel assignment required; no first-time travelers will be considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required
• Must comply with NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact) guidelines
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
• A copy of valid Driver's License is required for consideration
