Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Ortho-Neuro position requiring EPIC experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 33-bed, private-room, acute care Med/Surg Ortho-Neuro unit
• Patient population includes elective orthopedic surgeries such as hips, knees, shoulders, as well as neuro-surgical and general Med/Surg cases
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• Uses EPIC EMR and experience with EPIC is required
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required
• Travelers are the first to float to any Med/Surg units and may be assigned patients matching their skillset if floated to Tele
• Remote telemetry available if needed, monitored elsewhere with no strip reading required by RNs
• Must wear royal blue scrubs with matching royal blue scrub jacket if a jacket is worn; sweatshirts or hoodies are not permitted
• One day of EPIC orientation followed by one day on the unit with a preceptor before working independently
• Patient Care Techs assist with vitals, ADLs, and Foley catheter removals, with staffing depending on census
• Travelers expected to work assigned holidays if permanent staff coverage is insufficient
• Returning travelers must have a two-year break from any WVU Medicine location before reapplying and may not work within WVU for over one year without a subsequent two-year break
• No local travelers accepted per radius requirements

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg RN experience required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps required
• Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration
