Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an Acute Level II setting, with IL RN license and specialized certifications required.

Responsibilities

Position is in the Alternate Birthing Center LDRP unit of an acute care hospital
Handles laboring, postpartum, and nursery newborn patients with approximately 700 deliveries per year
Unit includes 12 LDRP rooms and 2 triage rooms, following AWHONN staffing guidelines (1:1 labor, 1:3 couplet)
Level II nursery with CPAP provided for newborns and respiratory therapist assistance
Utilizes Epic for charting and Obix EFM system with Phillips monitors for fetal monitoring
Works 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend required
No on-call requirements
May float hospital-wide as needed for team-based nursing
Travelers must work every other holiday throughout the assignment
Scrubs are provided by the hospital
Charge RN is present each shift and does not take a patient assignment
Support team includes OB techs and unit secretaries; Neonatology provider onsite 24/7
2-3 shifts of unit/department specific orientation provided
Drug-free workplace; negative drug screen required for all candidates
Local candidates are accepted at a local rate if residing within 50 miles

Requirements

Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
Minimum of 2 years Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
Current BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS preferred
Proficiency in Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring equipment preferred
Must be skilled in labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and nursery care
Experience with CPAP for newborns is beneficial
