Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Operating Room position requiring a WA or compact RN license and flexibility with rotating shifts.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Operating Room of a Level 1 Trauma Center within a large teaching hospital
- Rotating day and night shifts with varying shift lengths (8, 10, or 12 hours); weekends required
- No block scheduling available; must be flexible for unit needs
- Care for 60-70 surgical cases including ortho, spine, and neuro procedures
- Unit does not treat cardiac or transplant surgical cases
- Unit has 25 OR beds
- Medication system used is Pyxis and charting is done in Epic (Epic experience preferred but not required)
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- No on-call or floating required
- Primary responsibilities include circulating in surgical procedures with ortho, spine, and neuro case focus
- Team-oriented environment with support from experienced surgical staff in a Magnet-designated, academic setting
- Orientation and training provided at the start of assignment
- Holiday and weekend work is required with flexible scheduling expectations
- Facility offers both onsite and offsite parking options with shuttle service for offsite lots
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
Requirements
- Active WA or compact state RN license required; compact license holders must apply for WA licensure and complete state-specific requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of OR RN experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center with circulate skills required; 3-4 years preferred
- Neuro OR experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster required
- First-time travelers accepted
- RTO cannot exceed 6 days and is not permitted during orientation week
- Former employees must be separated for at least 18 months before returning as travelers
