Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years' experience and BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a busy, mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical floor
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics diagnosis
• Typical patient diagnoses include breast, thyroid, melanoma, liver, pancreas, biliary tract, neuroendocrine, colon, and rectal cancers, as well as reconstructive breast procedures
• Staffing ratios typically aim for 1:4 but may be 1:5
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend work required based on unit needs
• Schedule requests are submitted for review prior to final posting
• Orientation consists of weekday dayshift for the first week and on-unit precepted shifts in the second week
• Uses Epic for computerized charting
• Responsibilities include caring for PCU and Med Surg oncology patients with a heavy emphasis on infection prevention and patient falls
• Orientation program includes assigned preceptor support
• May be required to respond to oncologic emergencies such as cytokine release syndrome
• No blocked scheduling is offered
• First time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a similar setting required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification is preferred
• Experience with Epic charting is preferred
• Experience administering chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin and heparin drips, and managing oncologic emergencies is required
