Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active IL license and prior Level I Trauma ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department within a hospital setting
• Level I Trauma Center with urban patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours per week from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend is required
• Floating to other units is required
• Uses Epic for electronic charting
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No block scheduling or special schedule accommodations available
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed during contract
• Former permanent or PRN staff with University of Chicago locations must have a 7 month separation before returning as a traveler
• Holiday and weekend coverage expectations apply

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of prior Level I Trauma ED experience required
• Experience in a teaching hospital is preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
• TNCC and CPI certifications are preferred
• Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility
• Pending licenses are not accepted
