Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position on night shifts requiring a NE or compact RN license and multiple advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an acute care hospital Emergency Department (Trauma Level 2)
• The unit has 27 beds and serves patients of all ages
• Support staff includes nurse aides, EMTs, and paramedics on each shift
• Phlebotomy staff are available for lab draws
• Night shifts are 12 hours and self-scheduling is permitted, but final schedules are subject to management approval
• Weekend shifts are required every third weekend and include a combination of Friday and Saturday nights or Saturday and Sunday days
• Holiday coverage is required on a rotating basis
• No floating is required
• Epic EMR is used for charting and Epic experience is preferred
• Provide comprehensive emergency care to a diverse patient population
• Work collaboratively alongside a multidisciplinary team
• Complete 12 hours of orientation, including a mandatory pass/fail skills exam on orientation Friday
• Up to 7 days of requested time off will be approved for each 13-week contract; additional time off will not be granted
• Strict 50-mile radius rule applies; local candidates within this area are not eligible
• Contract termination may result from unsuccessful completion of required orientation tests or policy violations
• First-time travelers are considered for this position

Requirements

• Current NE or compact RN license in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (all active at time of consideration)
• Driver's license required for radius verification (must live more than 50 miles from facility)
• Candidates may not be currently or recently (within the past year) employed in any capacity at CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities
• References must include one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, with documented employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
• Abide by fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
