Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts in an acute care setting, requiring an active Oregon RN license and multiple certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 19-bed Medical Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults with CHF, diabetic complications and wounds, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, hip fractures, COVID-19, post-op orthopedic and general surgeries
• Maximum nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5 on nights
• Night shifts from 1900-0730 with every other weekend required
• Unit uses MEDITECH EMR
• RN is occasionally required to titrate drips such as heparin and Bumex
• Support available from both charge nurse and house supervisor on all shifts
• RT equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices available
• Telemetry monitored by CCU staff with the tele board visible to Med/Surg staff
• RNs may be asked to float as "helping hands" to other departments if not fully cross-trained
• On low census, RNs must be able to report within 30 minutes of being called in
• RNs typically manage less than the maximum assigned patients due to strong staffing ratios
• Unit provides 3-6 orientation shifts, with additional time as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required for all shifts
• Holiday work requirements are negotiable
• RNs may care for general pediatric patients in addition to adults
• May apply for the Oregon 90-Day Emergency License if not currently licensed in Oregon

Requirements

• Active OR RN license required; compact license not accepted unless endorsed by Oregon
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Must have experience caring for general medical-surgical and pediatric patients
• Experience with titration of common drips such as heparin and Bumex
• Experience with MEDITECH charting preferred
• Must provide a copy of a valid driver's license for consideration
• Submission requires 2 professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
