Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with an active IL license and advanced cardiac monitoring skills for a night shift position.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 4-bed ICU unit within a critical access, Magnet-recognized hospital
• Night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30, 3x12 hours per week
• Maintains a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio across all shifts
• Floats required within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Care for patients with cardiac, multi-system failure, and renal/respiratory conditions
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Cerner for electronic charting; experience preferred
• Responsibilities include infection prevention, PPE use, and management of surgical wounds and wound vacs
• Team environment in a small, highly skilled critical care team
• First-time travelers accepted
• Applicant must not have been a perm or PRN employee at Memorial within the past 12 months
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
• No radius restriction for local candidates
• Parking permits are provided at no cost
• RTO is ideally limited to 5 days; more requires approval
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Background screening required

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience is required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (AHA or Red Cross only)
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Proficiency in management of multi-system organ failure, 12-lead EKG, IV insulin protocols, renal failure care, and advanced IV therapy
• Required skills include arterial line and central/PICC line management, blood product administration, and medication titration (neuromuscular blockade, sedation, cardiac and vasoactive drips)
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, suctioning, and ventilator management
