Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) position requiring 18 months of recent LDRP experience and proficiency with c-sections and newborn care.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital LDRP unit including triage, LDR, mother-baby, and C-section suite
• 2 triage rooms, 4 labor and delivery rooms, 9 mother-baby beds, and a C-section suite
• Care for LDRP, GYN surgical, and postpartum patients with approximately 900 annual deliveries expected
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
• 12-hour night shifts (19:00-07:00), every other weekend required
• Travelers work 75% of holidays
• No on-call responsibilities
• Required to float within Region 1 to several facilities as needed and within scope of practice
• EPIC EMR system used; experience preferred
• Utilizes equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, Philips monitors, Panda Warmers, and GE/OBIX central monitoring
• Responsibilities include LDRP nursing care, circulating for C-sections, and newborn resuscitation
• Support staff include an OB Surg Tech, RT, receptionist/HUC, case manager, charge nurse, hospitalist or OB physician, and pediatrician available 24/7
• Nurses station features bedside fetal monitoring
• Facility and department orientation provided, including NEO and 2-day departmental orientation
• Can request up to 6 days RTO (excluding holidays), time off must be added to end of contract if contracted hours are not met
• Dress code is navy blue scrubs or business casual to/from work; hospital-issued scrubs while working

Requirements

• Active NC or compact state RN license
• Minimum 18 months of recent LDRP experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, EFM, and NRP certifications required
• Experience with all aspects of LDRP patient care, including circulating C-sections
• Proficiency with newborn care, NAS scoring, 24-hour testing, and lactation support
• Must have skillset to float and work within full LDRP scope of practice
• Cannot accept first-time travelers
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit
