Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN with at least one year of experience, an active OH or compact RN license, and strong cardiac care skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 36-bed MS/Telemetry unit with a diverse medical and telemetry patient population and a higher-than-average cardiac census
• Care for cardiac patients including those undergoing cardiac rule outs, CHF exacerbations, and pre/post cardiac cath procedures
• Manage patients receiving Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin drips but no pressors; must be able to titrate drips
• Occasional care of patients with chronic trachs, BiPAP/CPAP, ports, PICCs, standard drains, and chest tubes
• Unit features Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, and operates with 2-4 PCTs depending on census
• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday requirements
• Floating may be required based on staffing needs
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Provide comprehensive care for a range of medical, cardiac, and alcohol detox patients
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Night shift charge takes assignments in addition to oversight responsibilities
• First-day EKG testing with study guide provided
• Commitment to quality improvement and patient advocacy expected

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on the first day with two attempts allowed
• At least one year of RN experience required
• Previous pre/post cardiac cath and telemetry care experience preferred
• Must not live within a 50-mile radius to be eligible
