Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Telemetry and Renal unit position requiring an OH or compact RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and at least 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital-based General MS/Tele and Renal unit with 28 beds
• Typical patient ratios are 1:4-5
• Nurses interpret telemetry every 4 hours using EPIC EMR
• Patient population includes those with renal conditions and cardiac monitoring needs
• Care includes management of drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin
• Variety of oxygen modalities used: trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula
• Charge nurses are out of ratio on day shift and in ratio on night shift
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Phlebotomy team available for peripheral lab draws
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
• Main responsibilities include ongoing patient assessment, medication administration, and care coordination
• Nurses must pass a pass/fail EKG test on their first day, with two attempts allowed
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Expected to provide care for patients with multisystem organ issues and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide provided)
• Preferred experience with CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis)
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry independently
• EPIC EMR experience preferred, but not required
